Getting to and from school safely is a shared responsibility between students, families, drivers and schools. Explore the programs and resources below to help your child ride the bus safely all year long.

The 10 Rules of the Bus

Following these 10 rules every day will help you get to and from school safe and sound!

1
Get on the bus calmly, in single file.
2
Keep the aisle clear of feet, books and bags.
3
Stay seated during the entire school bus ride.
4
Talk quietly in the bus.
5
Never put your head or arms out of the window.
6
Never throw things inside the school bus.
7
Cross the street safely — see the steps below.
8
Always stay out of the school bus danger zone.
9
Obey the bus driver at all times.
10
Look out for one another, every ride.
  To cross the street safely:
  1. Take 10 big steps towards the front of the bus (enough to get around the safety crossing arm)
  2. Wait for the driver’s signal to proceed
  3. Continue to watch for traffic
  4. Never cross behind the bus!

Safety Is Everyone’s Job
